- Abstract
The article discusses the literary dimension of the drama "La conjuración de Venecia," by Spanish playwright Francisco Martínez de la Rosa. The play premiered at a crucial point in 19th century Spain during a time when the hectic rule of Ferdinand VII ended and liberal reform was beginning. Martínez, who was not only a playwright but a politician as well, was asked to head Spain's government. The article analyzes the connections between the play and the political scene of Spain in 1834.
