- Abstract
The article offers information on the efforts taken by the museum and archive, George Eastman House at Rochester, New York, towards creating the first digital preservation laboratory for moving image archives in the U.S. Its Digital Restoration Laboratory has two computers with software packages, one called Revival, which is produced in the U.S. and another called Diamant, designed in the European Union. Digitalized images are received by George Eastman House from the laboratory. The film is then analyzed and treated with the digital softwares, removing scratches, dirt, and stains. The digital software is installed in the Motion Picture Department, where technicians from Diamant and Haghefilm Conservation explore the aspects of the digital process.
