- Title
A NOTE ON EARLY PHOTOMONTAGE IMAGES.
- Authors
Sobieszek, Robert A.
- Abstract
The article discusses nineteenth century photomontages and composite prints acquired by the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. The acquisition includes a composite printed study titled "The Adoration," by Julia Margaret Cameron and three commercial albumen prints from Francis Bedford firm. It declares that the three albumen prints were able to adapt elements of afterthought to any given image by adding photographic elements. Meanwhile, "The Adoration" measures 24.9 x 28.7 cm and shows a method of determining the exact composition and the precise relationships of poses Cameron desired.
