- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 61-year-old woman with metastatic breast cancer who experienced abdominal pain, distension and constipation following her transfer to a home hospital. An abdominal radiograph showed free air while a computed tomography revealed numerous cystic-appearing pockets of gas along the bowel wall. The patient was diagnosed with pneumatosis intestinalis cystoides and was conservatively treated.
