- Abstract
With great interest, I read the recent systematic review and meta-analysis of predictors of airway intervention in adult epiglottitis.[1] I greatly appreciate Sideris et al.'s efforts, but there are several potential methodological pitfalls. Lastly, publication bias would impact the final results of meta-analysis, so the recognition and processing of publication bias should be an indispensable step.[5] But the authors did not evaluate publication bias. When the number of included studies is lower than 10, the Harbord test may better be routinely performed to assess the publication bias for the binary outcomes.[6] Among these outcomes, the Harbord test and modified Galbraith plot of stridor showed that a significant level of the publication bias was identified ( I P i = 0.003).
