- Abstract
Combined positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT)--PET/CT--is a safe, noninvasive technique that frequently allows radiologists to quickly pro-vide an accurate diagnosis of a solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN). Therefore, PET/CT should be part of the workup for SPN evaluation, Its value is especially evident in patients with SPNs that are indeterminate by CT criteria, in patients with heterogeneous masses, or in patients whose clinical history is complicated by previous malignancy.
