- Title
The Rich-Giving Paradox.
- Authors
BUCK, NAOMI
- Abstract
The article discusses research on how wealth influences social behavior. Topics addressed include studies suggesting that rich people are less acutely affected by social environment issues, wealth's contribution to social disassociation that can lead to selfish behavior, and evidence that poorer households in the U.S. contribute more to charity than rich ones as a percentage of income. Also mentioned are happiness studies showing that increased wealth does not increase subjective well-being.
