- Abstract
Eight species of the genus Arenaria that grow in Argentina were analyzed, using mainly material from the Argentinian herbaria. They are: Arenaria rivularis, A. lanuginosa, A. catamarcensis, A. achalensis, A. pycnophylloides, A. bisulca, which are found in the northwest of Argentina; A. serpens, found on the Andes between Jujuy and Tierra del Fuego and A. serpyllifolia, introduced from Europe and, collected on modified soils in the pampas. Comparative tables between A. rivularis -- A. serpens and A. lanuginosa -- A. catamarcensis are given; all the species are described, mapped and a key is included faor their identification. Arenaria dicranoides and A. pycnophylloides var. compacta were considered dubious or excluded names.
