- Title
PAIN RELIEF PROMOTION ACT.
- Authors
Klinck, Robert A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the controversies faced by federal legislators in modifying a section of the U.S. Code, which is the Pain Relief Promotion Act of 1999. It views that the proposed bill is an actual attempt to replace Oregon's Death with Dignity Act (ODDA), which legitimized physician-assisted suicide in the region. The implementation of the PRPA is in pursuant to its constitutional power to "regulate commerce" in major states. Political analysts cite that the assessment of the legality of the PRPA would offer the Supreme Court to express fully a modern Commerce Clause rule that would assure effective protection for the public.
