This article presents a critique of Robert Frost's poem "Design," a revision of an earlier poem he had written that was titled "In White." Probable reason behind Frost's reluctance to publish "In White" for many years and its eventual revision; Analysis of "In White"; Evidence in "Design" of the influence of the writings of William James regarding "design in nature"; Frost's initial intention to include "In White" in his first book of poetry, "A Boy's Will."
