- Abstract
The article analyzes the voluntary termination of pregnancy in the case of Chiapas, in 1990 when the government decriminalized abortion for family planning purposes, a measure without precedent at national scale. It further highlights examines changes in a law, and Mayan communities' norms in order to consider a possibility of overcoming social antagonism related to legality of voluntary termination of pregnancy.
