- Abstract
The author discusses the network security case involving Lower Merion School District in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that installed software in student laptops and the allowed webcam to be remotely activated. A parent of a student filed a lawsuit against the school district, accusing it of spying on students and their families using the iSight webcams in MacBook laptops. Features of the Absolutely Manage software by Absolute Software are discussed. The author compares the case to an anti-carjacking device proposed by a security firm.
