- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in the field of marketing, relating to the regulation of monopolistic methods. Regarding market control, the case United States v. Falstaff Brewing Corp., and Narragansett Brewing Co. is discussed, involving the possible restraint of trade under the Clayton Act. Regarding collusive practices, the case Consolidation Coal Co. v. Disabled Miners of Southern West Virginia is discussed, in which mine operators sought an injunction against picketers under the Sherman Act. Regarding market exclusion tactics, the case United States v. Otter Tail Power Company is discussed, in which a privately owned electric utility possessing monopoly power refused to sell power at wholesale or transmit power to municipalities it formerly served at retail.
