This introduction to the Fall 2013 issue of Generations describes what person-centered care means, especially for people with dementia, and touches on articles that will address how to implement it in a wide range of healthcare, residential care, and home- and community-based care settings. The article also provides detail on the definitions of person-centered care for all people, alternate terms that are used, and ongoing initiatives to increase the availability of person-centered care.
