The article discusses how the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act of 2011 (AIA), which is in effect from March 16, 2013, poses a serious threat to the efficacy of the U.S. patent system. Topics discussed include goal of the patent system, financial incentive to the inventor or assignee of the patent rights, and AIA interpretation of public use of the claimed invention.
