- Abstract
Melanoma-associated retinopathy (MAR) is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome that is believed to be the result of the production of antibodies against melanoma-associated antigens that cross-react with corresponding retinal cellular components. A diagnosis of MAR can be established by scotopic electroretinography (ERG), even in the absence of abnormal fundus findings or antiretinal antibodies.[[1]] In the multifocal electroretinogram (Fig. b), a three-dimensional reconstruction of electric retina activity with higher response in the normal foveal centre, showed a reduction in amplitude in our patient that was partially reversed after treatment.
