- Abstract
The article discusses historiography and bias in Turkish historical writing on the Balkans during the late Ottoman period. It explores the major barriers in studying Ottoman historiography related to the Balkans during the 19th century, which include the gap in historical writing of the Ottoman Balkans and the neglect of the Ottoman's bilateral relationship. Other topics include historical research on the Balkan Wars, nationalism in literature, emigration, and conflicts over the boundaries of Macedonia.
