The article focuses on cancer control. It demonstrates how important target audiences remain underserved in access to health information, education and cancer screening. Continuing development of theoretical foundations will benefit cancer control. Health educators have been influenced strongly by Social Learning Theory and the Health Belief Model. Discoveries at the genetic level are changing knowledge about the causes of cancer. This information should be used for intervention.
