- Abstract
A case study published in the Multiple Sclerosis Journal discusses the development of severe psoriasiform dermatitis (PD) in a patient receiving ocrelizumab treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS). The authors highlight the need for risk-management plans to address the specific risk of psoriasis or PD associated with ocrelizumab treatment. The study also explores the differences in pathophysiology between PD and MS, suggesting that ocrelizumab may induce changes in the immune network beyond the B-cell compartment, leading to secondary autoimmunity. The long-term effects of B-cell depletion and the course of secondary autoimmunity require further investigation. Clinicians are advised to monitor ocrelizumab patients for skin reactions and consider alternative treatments if PD develops.
