- Authors
Bevins, Scott
- Abstract
The article explores the issues such as the impact of the Information Age and today's knowledge-based global economy on the importance of the liberal arts versus technical disciplines such as engineering, computer science, and technology education and also discusses whether the liberal arts are becoming less relevant and thus less valued in today's society. As reported, the lives of students now-a-days are surrounded by technology such as Apple's iPod and iPad, Blackberry's PlayBook, and TiVo that provides them with multiple forms of entertainment. All levels of educational institutions are being forced to assess their productivity, their curriculum and course content among other things as a result of such technological changes and the current financial crisis.
