Abstract
The article discusses the significant contribution of the work of Jessie Little Doe Baird, a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe of eastern Massachusetts, in tackling the global problem of lost languages. It mentions the challenges faced by Baird when she began the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project which involved the reviving of an extinct language, the ancient Hebrew. It also notes that Baird has even received a MacArthur fellowship in recognition of her work.
