- Abstract
An essay is presented on the concept of language of the surrealist group of Bucharest, Romania between 1945-1947. It offers a background of the group which was formed in 1940 and composed of five men including Virgil Teodorescu and Paul Paon. It states that their collective work is written in French and explores the factors why the group chose the French language. The author argues that choosing French is their way of reconstructing an identity that conditions in Romania aim to inhibit.
