- Abstract
The author reflects on the need to expand Hepatitis C Virus drug access for American Indian and Alaska Native peoples. It states that American Indians and Alaska Native people have the highest acute hepatitis C virus infection and related mortality rate of any racial or ethic group in the U.S. It mentions in an effort to reduce costs, state Medicaid programs and insurance companies have imposed restrictions on drug therapies requiring late-stage liver disease to qualify for treatment.
