- Title
Bringing Diagnosis Into the Quality and Safety Equations.
- Authors
Graber, Mark L.; Wachter, Robert M.; Cassel, Christine K.
- Abstract
The authors discuss the delayed and missed diagnosis in the interpretation of diagnostic tests. They state that the diagnostic error accounts for major number of deaths per year and higher number of injured patients in the U.S. They recommend that the diagnosis and treatment need equal emphasis in determining quality and safety of health care and emphasis on diagnosis should begin in medical schools.
