- Abstract
The article analyzes the attributive adjectives used in written texts about chess, specifically in the magazine Peón de Rey. The aim is to determine the types of adjectives used, their position, and the intention of the mentioned concept. The adjectives are divided into two main categories: descriptive and relational, and adverbial adjectives are also mentioned. The frequent use of the adjective "gran" (great) to refer to the title of Grandmaster awarded by FIDE is highlighted. In addition, prominent players are mentioned, and the use of adjectives in relation to chess pieces is analyzed. The study concludes that adjectives are used to increase the expressive strength of the message and make it appealing to the target audience. The need for further studies on adjectives and chess discourse is suggested.
