- Abstract
This article discusses the educational policy relating to the nine years of elementary education, through the discourses of pedagogical coordinators, teachers and principals who work in public schools in the municipal teaching system of a municipality located within the State of Paraná. The instrument used for data collection was semistructured interviews. The procedure for the treatment of the data was inspired by the methodology of Collective Subject Discourse. The discourses of the interviewees showed that ensuring all children have access to compulsory education is a breakthrough for our society. However, the implementation of such a policy requires that schools have a physical structure with the space and time suitable for conveying the educational process that meets the singular needs of a child in the first year of the nine years of elementary education.
