- Abstract
The article discusses research conducted in Manchester, England and Scotland to investigate whether there was a significant variation in levels of claiming incapacity across general practices. They found that there was a non significant amount of variation across practices in Scotland and that people with mental health problems can be identified three years before they gain long term incapacity benefits. They concluded that mental health policy should try to keep disabled people working.
