- Title
September-October 2005: "It's the Poetry Issue"
- Authors
Schneider Jr., Richard
- Abstract
The article mentions that this issue of "The Gay & Lesbian Review" is focused on poetry. The journal receives more submissions from poets than from authors of any other genre. The gay liberation movement has revived the celebration of poetry and poets whose orientation is known or suspected to be homosexual. Several poets and writers are mentioned in this article, including Gertrude Stein, Allen Ginsberg, and W. E. B. Du Bois, as well as composer Ned Rorem. The author questions whether there is a "gay gene" for or something inherently "queer" about writing poetry.
