- Abstract
The purpose of the study is to test the causality relationship between globalization and government size. The study performed regarding 27 OECD countries comprises of the period of years 1995-2015. Government expenditures (% GDP) as an indicator of government size and KOF globalization index and sub components as an indicator of globalization were used to as part of analysis. The panel causality test developed by Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011) was use to test the direction of causality relationship between the variables. According to analysis result, a unidirectional causality relationship from globalization index to government expenditures, from economic globalization index to government expenditures and from social globalization index to government expenditures was found. The finding of a bidirectional causality relationship between the political globalization and government expenditures was also obtained.
