- Abstract
This article discusses the development of Jamaican popular music. The article notes that Jamaican music has been influenced by music from Europe. Jamaican artists have taken such music and adapted it to their own unique style. The original group of musicians that comprised The Wailers, including bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, were very adept at adapting foreign compositions. Bob Marley's hit song "One Love" used a verse form one of Curtis Mayfield's songs. Other songs that have been adapted by other Jamaican musicians are also noted.
