- Title
Abnormal behaviours, stereotypies and temperament.
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of the housing environment on the dog's behavior. A good laboratory environment prevents the development of abnormal behavior while an environment that do not meet the dog's physical and social needs usually results to abnormal behavior and physiological changes. Abnormal behavior may come in the form of a reduced behavioral repertoire or the development of a repetitive, invariant behavior patterns with no obvious function, also referred to as "stereotypies."
