- Abstract
Introduction: For the treatment of patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis the conservative approach based on the physical therapy is one of the possible options, applicable exclusively, when the patient's conditions are appropriate to the rational choice of this type of treatment. Compared to the different methods of exercises available, only a small group of them has provided a scientific evidence of effectiveness. Based on a case series of patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis treated with unsuccessful treatment outcomes. The article aims to illustrate a range of considerations of evaluation that have guided therapeutic choices and the proper management of the treatment course. Materials and methods: The 'case series' exposed refers to a small group of patients treated with specific physiotherapy who have completed a course of treatment with evident failures. For each case, the paper describes the stages of the path and the X-ray images that have supported the different moments of verification of the therapeutic outcome. Conclusion: Considering the results of the treatment that have been set for the group of subjects of the case series, we can reaffirm the importance of choosing the best possible treatment based on the principles of EBM, avoiding to rely as a matter of principle on the correctness of the own original treatment idea and, in case of apparent failure, putting oneself constantly in question to find a better and alternative way respect to the therapeutic project.
