- Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the differences between digital and laboratoryfabricated custom trays for their precision and accuracy. Fifteen brackets will be bonded virtually to proclined teeth with different tipping angles (0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, and 20°). These specimens will be fabricated via CAD/CAM technology by scanning an upper Frasaco model AG-3 (Henry Schein Dental), using model scanner D800 (3Shape), Romexis 3D Ortho Studio software (Planmeca), and Varseo S 3D printer as well as Varseo ModelWax resin material (BEGO). The specimens will be divided into two groups: Group A (reference models) represents digitally bonded, and Group B (intervention models) represents unbonded maligned modified 3D printed models. Both groups are again divided into five subgroups with the specific proclination. Group A is utilized to fabricate thermoplastic custom trays, while Group B is inserted to conduct laboratory indirect bonding. Final surface software (GFaI) will be used to superimpose and evaluate discrepancy between digitally and laboratory bonded brackets. Statistical analysis will be performed using SigmaPlot 13.0 (Systat Software). There is a statistically significant difference in the bracket positioning between reference and intervention groups (P = .003). The analysis showed the greatest deviation from the reference value of the 5° group. The extent of in vitro maxillary central incisor tilt has an influence on accuracy and precision between digital and conventional indirect orthodontic bonding using CAD/CAM technology.
