- Abstract
As the demand for aesthetic treatments for facial rhytids continues to increase, innovative physicians and medical product companies have responded with new technologies and treatments for wrinkles. In recent years, botulinum toxin has been approved for the treatment of glabellar rhytids, and new filler materials are being introduced on a regular basis. Far from just medical grade silicone, today’s cosmetic surgeon can select to attentuate facial rhytids with bovine or human-derived collagen, fascia, hyaluronic acid, porcine intestinal submucosa, hydroxyapatite solutions, autologous fat or collagen grafting, and other temporary or permanent materials. Additionally, a number of innovations in the use of light, temperature, and lasers are availale for the treatment of facial rhytids. In this multidisciplinary seminar including nationally recognized physicians from the fields of facial plastic surgery, dermatology, and plastic surgery, contemporary approaches to facial rhytids will be discussed with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. Most of these procedures can be performed in an office examination room. Panel members will discuss new technologies, as well as their preferred materials and techniques. Case examples will also be discussed by the panel.
