- Authors
Breakefield, Xandra O
- Abstract
The author discusses the establishment of the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (RAC) in 1974 by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). It aimed to provide the potential risks of recombinant technology earlier but now it takes on the review of clinical gene therapy protocols. The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) has worked with the RAC to improve the efficiency and reduce the risks associated with gene transfer in clinical protocols.
