A film criticism is presented of the science fiction motion picture "Blade Runner" directed by Ridley Scott. Topics discussed include the use of empathy in the film, the film's depiction of the other, and the film's portrayal of identity and the concept of the self. Rick Deckard, a character in the film played by Harrison Ford, is also examined.
