- Abstract
The article presents DNA oxidation process involving the use of photosensitizers like riboflavin where electron abstraction from the nucleobases, specifically guanine, can occur. In a recent study, nitrosoperoxycarbonate is produced from the inflammation processes with highly reactive precursors and is shown to target guanine. Guanine is most susceptible to abstraction due to charge migration to the sites with lowest ionization potential.
