French Baroque organ music.
- Authors
Ponsford, David
- Abstract
The article focuses on the French Baroque organ music with the golden age during the reign of Louis XIV of France. Topics explored include the registration of music pieces between 1709 and 1712 such as plein jeu, basse de trompette, and tierce en taille. Also mentioned is the carefulness of English organists to play this music due to reasons such as few colours of English organs, inadequate understanding of performance like articulation and the lack of experience on its liturgical culture.
