The article discusses the comprehensive review conducted on several studies about the use of electronic monitoring (EM) for moderate to high-risk offenders. The results of this inquiry are not promising because previous projects that have examined the methodology of particular studies have been unable to substantiate any general effect on post-EM recidivism. The authors provide other options for policy makers to improve the impact of EM.
