- Abstract
Aiming at the problem of poor adhesion between epoxy coating and stainless steel substrate, type 304 stainless steel was roughened by sandblasting. The effects of blasting angle, blasting time, standoff distance, and mesh number of abrasive on the surface morphology and roughness of substrate, as well as the adhesion of coating prepared thereon were studied. The process conditions were optimized by orthogonal test to improve the adhesion of coating. The results showed that the adhesion of coating prepared on the substrate with a roughness (Ra) of 5-6 µm was high. The sandblasting conditions were optimized as follows: blasting angle 75°, standoff distance 10 cm, mesh number of abrasive 24, and blasting time 60 s. The average adhesion strength of epoxy coating obtained on the substrate sandblasted thereunder was 20.2 MPa.
