- Title
The Mother-Daughter Relationship: Narrative as a Path to Understanding.
- Authors
Miller, Michelle
- Abstract
Outside of the therapeutic context, the purpose of this study is to explore the mother-daughter experience in the family using personal narratives as a method for obtaining the data. This exploration is not limited to Anglos only; however, the focus is limited to lower-middle class women in the United States. Keeping this agenda in mind the following research questions were posited: 1) How do these mothers experience their relationship with their daughters? 2) How do these daughters experience their relationship with their mothers? This is not intended to be an exhaustive analysis of the mother-daughter relationship. The intent is to examine and offer some clarity to understand this interpersonal relationship as it exists in this particular culture.
