- Title
RAMSEY AND OTHERS ON NUCLEAR ETHICS.
- Authors
Stout, Jeffrey
- Abstract
This essay draws a conceptual map of the debate among Christian just war thinkers in the United States and Britain over nuclear ethics. The map is meant to demonstrate first, the aims and structure of Paul Ramsey's various reflections on nuclear ethics; second, how Ramsey's arguments and those of nuclear pacifists like Walter Stein jointly defined the conceptual space within which the U. S. Catholic bishops tried to work out their position; and third, why the bishops' attempt to stake out a position between Ramsey and Stein was doomed to fail.
