- Abstract
Casa Lina is a small house, a humble architecture with a huge architectonic and didactic value; it is a milestone in the production of Mario Ridolfi, Italian master of modern architecture. A systematic formal investigation of the geometric genesis of Casa Lina, based on an unusual hypothesis, allows incursions in the field of architectural composition that finally display the potential of the geometric device in rationally shaping forms and intimately connecting container and content. The analysis of the geometric structure and of the spatial and formal peculiarities of this masterpiece, reveals new connections and newly synthetizes and confirms assessed relationships with the Roman character of this work, with the Renaissance investigations and with the baroque formal inventions. Casa Lina reveals the deep cultural roots of the Master and of its work, and clearly outline which are the characteristics of continuity and of permanence of the concept of "classic".
