- Title
Why waviness worsens wear: Most of us realize that roughness affects tribological behavior, but it turns out that waviness can be just as important.

- Abstract
The article discusses the significance of waviness, a concept often overlooked in tribology, in relation to wear, friction, and roughness. It present findings from experiments conducted on pin-on-disk systems with alumina abrasive particles in water-based slurry. It further reveals an intimate correlation between waviness, local friction coefficient, friction fluctuations, and wear, challenging the conventional focus on roughness in wear analysis.
