- Abstract
This article analyzes the digital economy of the refugee community in Nairobi, highlighting the opportunities and challenges they face. Digital employment is emphasized as a promising avenue for the socio-economic development of refugees, especially the youth. However, there are legal and practical obstacles that hinder their access to these opportunities. Despite this, initiatives led by refugees that facilitate access to online work, such as the Desert Freelancing Agency, are mentioned. The article also discusses digital initiatives for refugees in Kenya and how these can contribute to their local integration. Despite the forays into the digital economy, refugees in Kenya still face limitations in their rights and job opportunities.
