- Abstract
This article presents a case study of science education in Papua New Guinea. The context of Papua New Guinea was discussed. The educational system of nation is organized in three tiers which consist of six years of primary school, four years of provincial high school and two years of national high school. The task of primary education is to equip the child with basic knowledge and skills which will be of use to him in his home community. The broad aim of the four-year lower secondary education program provided by provincial high schools. About 15 percent of Grade 10 students are selected on the basis of School Certificate results to enter the four National High Schools.
