- Abstract
Introduction: Mental Disorders have a high prevalence worldwide, generating morbidities, sequelae, and mortality. The challenges in the health sector have demanded differentiated health professionals. The Multiprofessional Residency Program in Family Health (PRMSF) is included as a new national training policy. The Program provides support to the Family Health Strategy (ESF), and the preceptorship must assist the residents' performance, stimulating skills for professional practice. Linked to this is the need to improve community mental health in the ESF. Objective: To demonstrate the experience of the Arco de Maguerez active methodology in the exercise of preceptorship in the Multiprofessional Residency, to drive improvements in the line of mental care in the ESF. Methods: This study is an experience report, the result of intervention research, carried out in the role of the PRMSF preceptorship at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), in an ESF team located in Parnaíba-PI, during in-service teaching for residents, in the years 2022 and 2023. The work used the problematizing methodology of the Arco de Maguerez, composed of five stages: Observation of Reality, Key Points, Theorization, Solution Hypotheses and Application to Reality. Results and Discussions: The application of the Arc made it possible to observe worrying situations in mental health care for ESF users, and to theorize about them. Thus, feasible solution hypotheses were raised, involving preceptors, residents and the ESF team, and interventions were carried out. Some ongoing education actions on the topic of mental health were carried out for the professionals involved, and an ESF mental health card was created, an educational technology for monitoring mental disorders in users of the territory. The Maguerez Arc is a powerful teaching tool, leading to reflective practice and making the executors protagonists in dissolving the problem situation in the reality of the service. Final Considerations: It is believed that, in addition to presenting an adequate configuration to the problem of mental health in the ESF, it promoted action-reflection-action of the professionals involved.
