- Abstract
The Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) has been the protagonist of low-cost, easy-to-apply humanized care, being executed by a well-educated multidisciplinary team, to humanize the three phases of its use. The monitoring of NBs is carried out comprehensively by several health professionals, mainly the physiotherapist, who has the role of kinetic- functional monitoring encompassing the NB as a whole. Objective: to analyze the effectiveness of the Kangaroo Mother Care in the Intensive Care environment, encompassing humanization up to the present time; investigate the contribution of the physiotherapist and the multidisciplinary team to the implementation of the method; investigate the effectiveness and importance of using MMC in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and describe the benefits and positive aspects of the Kangaroo Mother Care for improving hemodynamics and increasing maternal-child bonding. Methodology: This is a qualitative study, a literature review of articles published between 2013 and 2023. The research was carried out on websites such as Scielo and Pubmed in English and Portuguese. Conclusion: With the entire study, it was concluded that MC is effective and acts beneficially on the health of premature newborns. We were able to list and highlight all the benefits arising from the method, which prove the importance of carrying it out in NICUs, being an alternative treatment that is easy to apply and without using technological resources, which makes it easier to carry out in hospitals resulting in early discharge, taking into account humanization, and care not only for the newborn but also assistance for the entire family.
