- Abstract
The article presents a comparative framing analysis of embedded and behind-the-lines reporting on the 2003 Iraq war. Embedded reporters were those who traveled with combat troops and co-existed with the actual combat field, while behind-the-lines reporters were those location away from the combat field. According to the author, the embedded journalists describe the war in terms of the weakness of Iraqi army resistance, while behind-the-line journalists see the war in terms of the potential of Iraqi forces to mount significant counterattacks. The author concluded that behind-the-line reporters were less able than embedded reports, for the fact that embedded reporting was being observed directly and reporters experienced the actual combat scenario.
