- Abstract
Saturated fatty acids have many disadvantages (for small and moderate doses it is possible to compensate for them but, in general, they have an increased risk of oxidative stress and chronic diseases). Industrially produced fats must therefore be significantly reduced, even completely avoided. In the case of animal fats, saltwater fish is an exception, containing plenty of beneficial Omega-3 and much less saturated fat. Essential fats in the diet also include Omega-6, but its amount should not be too high because, in unfavorable proportions with Omega-3, it can cause inflammatory reactions. Omega‑7 fatty acids are monounsaturated, non-essential fats, which means that the human body can produce them. Although not as popular as Omega‑3 or Omega‑6, these fatty acids have at least as many health benefits. Omega-9 fatty acids are also monounsaturated. Unlike Omega 3 and 6 acids, they are not essential, so the human body can produce them, being even the most abundant in most cells in the body. The four types of unsaturated fatty acids contribute to the balance of vital body functions: they are improving memory and the concentration skills, support the cardiovascular system and have a strong anti-inflammatory effect.
